DraftKings Takeover Delayed

Multiple rumours circulating the internet indicated that DraftKings, one of the most significant fantasy sportsbetting leagues in North America, would be purchased by Diamond Eagle Acquisition. This acquisition firm, which is managed by producers and actors from Hollywood, is rumoured to be in final negotiations with DraftKings. Since these rumours have begun circulating, the online fantasy sports league hasn’t denied any claims. One spokesperson noted that the website contacts multiple corporations daily on countless matters and that their general policy isn’t to comment on the discussions had with those companies.

Flutter Entertainment

Though the rumours haven’t been confirmed, their most likely accurate. Recently the Stars Group acquired Flutter Entertainment, allowing for their services to reach new heights. However, this acquirement cost the corporation more than $13 Billion. It wouldn’t be surprising that DraftKings would be looking for a similar deal, cashing in on the hype of their rival’s recent purchase.

Additionally, when Flutter Entertainment purchased the Stars Group, it caused increased market pressure for DraftKings. Their leading competing site is FanDuel, which now is governed by Flutter. Their one of the largest firms operating worldwide, with Flutter owning FoxBet and PokerStars. Flutter Entertainment is strategically developing their priority market share in anticipation of nation-wide sportsbetting. This doesn’t mean that DraftKings has lost its large hold over the market but could in the coming years without a new partnership.

DraftKings Response

These rumours indicate that DraftKings will respond in full swing, with the fantasy firm negotiating with two corporations. This tactical decision could allow for their success and technological achievements to continue going forward. Their history towards revamping the fantasy sports market has made them a serious subject for any potential buyers. DraftKings didn’t deny that SBTech or Diamond Eagle was in negotiations to join in on a partnership. It’s unknown if this will be a three-way or two-way collaboration. When the merger between Flutter Entertainment and FanDuel became, it was a prolong experience until completion. It appears that similar events are transpiring with the DraftKings Merger. It could be months before any official announcement is made.

The most likely outcome for DraftKings is that it will be taken over by a third-party corporation. There is also the chance that another gaming firm will partner with DraftKings to increase its American and International exposure. The only candidate for this outcome is William Hill, who have denied negotiating with FanDuel for a mutual partnership. Regardless, these rumours appear to be more likely every day.
