US Sports Betting Industry Major Deal


Over the past year and a half, since the US government changed the legislation concerning the legality of sports betting within the country, the industry of sports betting has seen some significant changes. This integration between the two will be confirmed through an application set to be launched as early as November this year. The app will be available on both Google Play and iOS. The deal includes the integration of various sports favoured by the sports punters in the states including NHL, NBA, soccer, baseball, golf, tennis, college sports and of course football.

This statement by Jim Murren, the chairman and CEO of MGM Resorts International is further supported by the fact that through this partnership, BetMGM will now be able to work with Yahoo Sports to provide punters with a sports betting platform of world-class standards. Through the contribution of the leading fantasy sports operations of Yahoo Sports, they will be able to provide an interactive platform that will place them in a unique position to drive this particular market forward and in the process gain a large segment of the market share.

Already before the deal was finalized, MGM was in partnership with the NBA and the NHL. The commissioners of both these leagues stated their excitement over the agreement and the possibilities which it brings to their fans nationally. Adam Silver, commissioner of the NBA furthermore noted that the expanding of the two companies is bringing a change to the known landscape of sports betting. They are applying various emerging technologies and create exciting opportunities to increase the engagement of their fans.
