NFL Getting on Track in Sportsradar Deal

For a long time, the National Football League were dragging their feet to get on par with other national leagues in the arena of sports betting. Compared to the other major leagues like NBA, NHL and MLB, the NFL is in the best position to earn significant revenue off it. This week they took a giant step forward when they signed a deal with the Swiss company, Sportsradar, to generate revenue through the betting industry.

Moving Forward with Sportsradar

The multi-year contract gives Sportsradar the exclusive authority to supply various media outlets and sportsbooks, both nationally and internationally, with real-time visuals and audio of NFL games. The distribution of Next Gen Stats, play-by-play data and real-time visuals to regulated and legally operating bookmarkers will allow in-game bets to be placed. This means, that there are many gainers from this partnership. First of all, Sportsradar will get their fair share of clients and the bookmarkers will enjoy the rain of American Football betting placements that will be provided both live and before the game begins.

An additional commitment stated in the contract is appointing Sportsradar as the watchdog of all betting activities surrounding the NFL. Keeping ethical integrity is vital to the NFL, and they have assigned this task to monitor all pre-season as well as regular and post-season games’ betting activities, to Sportsradar. The contract has also given access to all the various franchises in the league to have access to Sportsradar workshops and products related to education on integrity within the field of sports betting.

An Expansion on An Existing Deal

This is no new partnership between the NFL and Sportsradar. For quite some time already, Sportsradar has been responsible for distributing data and info to media outlets. The deal does mean though that Sportsradar will now be able to optimize this data and increase the opportunities of in-game betting. Increased opportunities in sports betting as calculated by Nielsen and the American Gaming Association, are estimated to bring an increase in revenue generated for the league to about, $2.33 billion per year. This places the NFL at the top in the rankings of national league revenue generated through sports betting.

The NFL Is Planning on Delivering on Consistent Data

Hans Schroeder, the NFL Media CEO, highlighted the importance to the NFL that accurate and consistent data delivery is maintained regardless of the market size where it is delivered to. Hence they partnered up with a company with whom they already have been working for four years to take on the responsibility.

CEO of Sportsradar, Carsten Koerl, considers this as the most crucial partners within the history of the company. They are confident that they can provide precisely what the NFL needs and are excited to build a strong relationship towards a prosperous future. Since Sportsradar is a market leader within their field, they have the necessary experience and skills to deliver on the needs of the NFL to maintain their integrity at all times.
